Reminder that unlike what libs believe, the mass killing of the landlords wasn’t Mao’s idea. It was the result of direct demands from the peasantry, who did not only insist that the landowners be executed, but also that they would be publicly shamed and humiliated beforehand, to confront their crimes before being put down.

It also wasn’t universal, some landlords simply gave up their land and allowed it to be collectivized. It was by no means common but they had a choice and most chose to try to hang on to their holdings through violence.

:this:

Communists would rather not use violence, we just have to.

Wtf I love direct democracy now.

The most disappointing thing was learning that Mao never cough coughed the landlords.

Sounds a lot like what happened after the Cuban Revolution. The trials the Revolutionaries put on for the landlords were mercy, they saved them from the people who had their own plans.

I’m not read about it at all, but wasn’t the policy not even “kill landlords.” There was a law that protected landlords from their peasants and let them use violence to coerce them, but the Mao policy removed that protection.

It was a complicated time, also: Not all landlords were killed, though most landlords abused their position or at least did not work with the revolutionary cadres and masses to change the system, or help the people they were a community with in a manner that was more than charity.

We even have examples of some people who could’ve been landlords and had a chill life, but decided to join the communist party. Somehow the ones who did stand with the masses before it was opportune had better standing.

wait, what does that mean? do you seriously have to pay for… the privilege of possibly being allowed to pay them more money? how is that a thing?

App fees have been a thing for a while now, they’ve increased dramatically over the past year now and sometimes they’ll just take the fee and not even call you back.

They will collect like 30 applications then only rent out to the people with the highest credit score and wages.

Dude, this is fucking blowing my mind right now… how is this fucking possible? Where I live, the real estate agent will take you for free to check out the place you’re going to rent, and the apps where you can find listings are all free from app stores. This application fee is like charging you for the right to go into a fucking store, it’s insane

Yeah, it’s insane. They also refuse to even tell you if there are other applicants and if you’re likely to be accepted until you pay the fee.

Yes. I’ve never been in a spot where I could’t afford it at all, but I’ve always had to plan it out in advance and skip out on something.

Imagine profiting off of dangling precious shelter and safety and warmth in front of families just to say “lol no actually we won’t rent to you thanks for what little money you may have had/borrowed to just look, bye”.

It is like this game with cups and the pea which you have to find. It is rigged and just like with the Goat Guessing Game most people don’t see it at first.

And it just speaks to the decadence of western society that this is the stuff we reward: rip-off artists, con men, and scammers are evil geniuses and when we target corrupt individuals, they tell us that we’re punishing genius. Then they complain why people in power are so corrupt.

the maoist uprising against the landlords was the largest and most comprehensive proletarian revolution in history, and led to almost totally-equal redistribution of land among the peasantry
