Acting like white people didn’t invent anything ever erases the advantages that an educational and economic system of white supremacy gives to the in-group. White Americans invented a lot of stuff because they unfairly had privileged and often exclusive access to the means of knowledge and research, and we need to recognize that if we want to critique this system accurately and grant those benefits to all.
What are the things please
I’m not acting. I’m saying the ideology of white supremacy hasn’t produced anything, just gave people tools to exploit and steal
why do you want this list? I’m not gonna make you a long one but the solar cell, the induction motor, and the discovery of estrogen, three things that are going to be very important long after we kill and bury white supremacy.
Hating white supremacy is not to pretend like it didn’t have an impact on the landscape of technology and science. Truly hating white supremacy is to see that impact and to want it erased. We’d be much further and in better standing with science and technology without white supremacy because the world would be better if our out-group comrades were able to share the privileges the in-group has gotten.
I don’t disagree with this at all lol, I’m not sure why you think I would
There really is a contingent of white people on chapo who love hysterically professing how much they hate being white.
white supremacist culture invented the self loathing white leftist :think-about-it:
C++
Baseball, skateboarding, bluegrass music, punk music, volleyball, idk probably a ton of other stuff but i don’t really want to search on google “inventions by white americans”
Bluegrass has roots in African folk, even the banjo, punks the same. Baseballs an evolution of much older sports.
Skateboarding and volleyball though probably
volleyball is influenced from badminton, skateboarding from surfing. All inventions build off other inventions, that doesn’t lessen their importance, these things aren’t created in a vaccuum.
In America you had European, African and Native American traditions all intermingling and so of course there’s going to be cross cultural pollination. To look at the main bluegrass instruments - the banjo, the fiddle, the mandolin, the guitar - the banjo is African, the fiddle was from the British Isles, the mandolin largely came over with Italian immigrants, and the guitar was Spanish. So bluegrass owes a ton to Africa, but it’s also not going to exist in the form we know today without white Americans. Also, I’d argue a lot of bluegrass owes just as much to the jigs and reels of Ireland and Scotland as to African folk. A lot of traditional Appalachian ballads come from the British Isles.
This question is weird and it reminds me of white supremacists who want to rank races by how much they’ve contributed to the world. We’re not counting up inventions and deciding who is worthy. There’s plenty to criticize white people on (especially white Americans) but this is a weird way to go about it. It also reminds me of Alan Lomax, obsessed with finding the pure Black American music, untouched by white European traditions. Such a thing doesn’t exist, just the same that a pure white American music or other thing doesn’t exist. Despite the white supremacist ideal of completely separate races with cultures that can be completely separated, in the year 2022 such a thing doesn’t really exist, we’ve been living on this continent together for like 800 years or something
Critical Race Theory?
