Some nonsense about how inflation fucks up any infrastructure planning. Escalation clauses are interesting though, seems like get free profit card
Sure our infrastructure is failing but we shouldn’t have overbuilt road infrastructure in the first place. The roads that are actually important get the first cut away, the infra bill is mostly just another way to prop up the suburban way of living. I say good, let it fail and relocate people into cities.
why can’t public spending and wages simply be pegged to inflation
easy fucking fix
It was always a tiny infrastructure plan. America is the richest country on earth and their proposed “big” infrastructure spend was like 5x less than China’s
Also, the US needed to spend $4T just to get its infrastructure back to par. That’s just maintenance debt. Then you can start making improvements.
Prices are going to because of the supply chain breaking down. Therefore, we can’t do infrastructure. That would require spending money and spending money creates inflation which is the one thing we don’t want!
