Biden after meeting Summers this morning:

“No, I don’t think it is,” Biden said when asked if a recession is more likely than ever. “I was talking to Larry Summers this morning and there’s nothing inevitable about a recession.”

:yea:

I’m doing my part. :rat-salute:

I know even in the most communist society there will be people living in terrible conditions

China seems to have ended poverty in a nation of 1.4B people. I think “terrible” is somewhat relative and there are definitely problems a national government operating under a particular economic model can’t fix. But I believe the bench posts in these countries are moving. What is tolerable under Capitalism continues to slouch while what is normal under Communism continues to improve.

This is absolute nonsense, of course, but for the sake of the bit can we fire all cops first? How far does that get us?

Its pretty prominent on business news sites. I’m sure if anyone actually watched CNN, they’d get a segment on why unemployment rates are too low. But I also think a lot of this goes in one ear and out the other, simply because the idea that the Federal Government has an impact on my personal life lives mostly in the realm of left-wing history and right-wing conspiracy.

I honestly question whether these Fed interest rate hikes are really going to do the kind of damage to the job market or downward pressure on inflation that they profess. Inflation isn’t being driven by wage growth its being driven by supply chain disruption. If wages fall due to inflation and supply chain disruption persists due to lack of infrastructure and labor investment, what is supposed to change?

We’ve got a Federal Government that seems to want to make Stagflation a public policy.

I truly wonder if it is desperation or complacency that makes them drop the mask completely. Like Larry Summers is a ghoul and has been his entire working life, but I don’t know if he ever was as explicit as this, even when he was working with committing classicide against the poorest people of Russia.

US Policy: “We need 5% of the active labor force to be idle for half a decade.”

Also US Policy: “It is a crime not to hold a job.”

Also also US Policy: “We have a list of people whom it is illegal to hire or to be hired by and a list of jobs which are illegal to perform or to solicit.”

Also also also US Policy: “Nobody wants to work anymore.”
