I don’t think he’s as bad as people act like on the Internet. He’s a religious nutjob, yes, but he’s probably not doing any sex crimes or anything like that. He’s also not like J.K. Rowling, intentionally making himself the face of hatred, he seems to mostly keep his home life and views to himself.
I think people are just really mad at him because of the dark side of parasocial relationships. When the illusion is broken that the person is not the same person that their mind made them out to be, it amplifies the bad things about them (for examples of this, see r/RantGrumps or r/CinemassacreTruth).
I’ve always just found him to be a bland and uninteresting actor who will get to star in 40 movies every year because of Parks and Rec goodwill. A face to Hollywood corporate blandness if you will
there are probably 50 million guys with instagram posts exactly like this
like yeah, it’s weird, but this country is a machine for producing weirdos
If you know anything about conservative church culture, that entire paragraph is a major :yikes:
“We met in church”, usually these guys are very insulated in cultural conservative views that the only women that want to date them are those that are very involved in church.
“She helps me with everything, in return I open a jar”, usually when you hear this from certain guys you know that the wife is doing all the housework and domestic labour while the guy sits around all day and can barely make instant noodles/ramen for himself.
Compares his wife to sports memorabilia, a lot of guys like this do this because they view their wife as an object,an achievement to check off on a checklist.
If both parties are fine with this, it’s alright I guess, but so many people get sucked into this kind of stuff.
