gotta love cop opsec. giving us a fun newgrounds hidden object puzzle to solve so that their undercover guys don’t have to worry about experiencing their beloved police violence
Honestly don’t even need to look for clothing. Just look for the guy with the build, behaviour and stance of a cop. They stand way the fuck out.
at our protest the undercovers were so obvious. fat middle-aged white dudes with goatees, badly fitting clothes. we called them out to everyone and they just left lol
green hats are also worn by NLG legal observers who are comrades though.
your little “trick” for IDing undercovers is not foolproof and people should not rely on that.
it’s not a reliable way to determine who is or isn’t an undercover cop though.
Remember to stab them in the neck, the vest doesn’t protect that part:think-mark:
Technically it kinda sorta is? They’re usually made of kevlar, but it’s not nearly as effective as actual bullet-resistant stuff.
I could see it stopping a .22 or a glancing 9mm, but your ribs are broken and your lungs are collapsed. Anything bigger is gonna cut through like butter
you’ll also know these guys when they stand behind a large group of unarmed protesters in a standoff with cops and are curioiusly the first to throw something, triggering an avalanche of violence against the protesters. then they either disappear or magically end up behind the cops
that’s not always the case. don’t delegitimize the real rage of the oppressed against this system.
and don’t blame people who are fighting back for the state’s violence against people.
your attitude causes divisions among the oppressed just as efficiently as infiltrating cops who consciously seek to divide and conquer social movements.
:both-sides: you both make good points, :the-pigs: can employ different tactics when undercover
Sometimes they incite the violence, sometimes they hold the protesters back and call for civility over a megaphone
true, they do both. whatever works best for controlling people and destroying their collective power.
mostly they often just stand around and don’t do anything to either incite or dissolve the energy of the protest, but rather just arrest people who damage private property or fight back against the cops.
they will even often be the ones trying to turn the crowd against people who’s rage leads to more aggressive actions like vandalism at a protest. anything to divide the crowd amongst itself.
that’s not always the case. don’t delegitimize the real rage of the oppressed against this system.
if you stand BEHIND a bunch of unarmed people and use them as a meat shield, and are the first to initiate violence, then disappear while the hammer comes down on everyone else, that’s not real rage of the oppressed, that’s cop behavior. I think i added enough qualifiers to what i said to distinguish the two. obviously if EVERYONE is fighting the cops at once and is ARMED and PREPARED and ORGANIZED, that is legitimate.
and don’t blame people who are fighting back for the state’s violence against people.
didn’t
your attitude causes division among the oppressed just as efficiently as infiltrating cops who consciously seek to divide and conquer social movements.
ok
didn’t
yes you did. you are blaming people other than the police for the violence the police inflict. the police inflict violence for any or no reason at all, depending on their mood and the larger interests of the system. blaming anyone but the pigs for their violence is actually cop behavior. not that throwing rocks from the back of the crowd is a good idea tactically, strategically, or ethically: it isn’t. but i still wouldn’t blame some angry 15 year old for not realizing that and throwing things at cops from the back of a crowd for the violence the cops decide to inflict on the peaceful front of the crowd. and the evidence to support my position is that many times people throw things from the back of a crowd and the cops DON’T decide to start attacking the front of the crowd because of it. it’s THEIR choice to engage in violence against peaceful protestors or not. always.
and your logic is used at every level of political engagement to blame each other instead of the oppressive capitalist state and it’s bodyguards:
people who just believe in voting blame people protesting for the violence inflict on non-protestors who happen to be in the area and get beat up by the cops. | / people who think you should protest with a permit blame people who protest without a permit for the violence inflicted on those who show up for the protest by the police. | / people who protest without on a permit on the sidewalk blame people who march in the street and don’t stay on the sidewalk for the violence inflicted upon the protestors on the sidewalk by the police. | / people who march in the street blame people who engage in vandalism during the protest for the violence inflicted on protestors who don’t damage property by the police. | / people who damage property during a protest blame people who engage in violence during a protest for the people who just damage property getting beat up/shot by the police.
etc. etc…
your logic is off base. you don’t blame anyone but the pigs for the violence the pigs engage in. to do otherwise is to divide and destroy social movements.
Hello fellow activists
Also the Yankee hat if you’re in NYC. Obviously not everyone wearing a Yankee hat is a cop, but undercover NYC cops frequently wear them and it should arouse your suspicion enough to look for other signs
