Whether it’s for work or when your going out or whatever? It seems most people don’t now, but I’ve seen some places still have them. Kinda weird cuz it’s not like COVID’s gone. I still wear a mask but I’m the only person that does at my workplace and it’s kinda awkward tbh.

Know what’s wild? Y’all should see the masking etiquette in the developing world.

Literally everyone masks up and stays masked consistently… even the laborers in the rice fields making less than $5/day. Government provides basic foodstuffs for folks who need to quarantine, and masks provided by government (and “courtesy” at all stores.)

Vaccination proof cards required and checked to enter/eat at restaurants. Temperature checks required to enter all stores. Hand sanitizer pumps at all entrances.

So, yeah, even though it’s crowded as heck and healthcare resources sub-standard… there’s barely any cases. It’s pretty incredible what can be done when there’s not some wacko fringe lunatics running around making life miserable for everyone.

ALEXA, search “plane tickets to <developing country>” and “<developing country> immigration lawyers”.

Yes.

Two months ago I made this post:

Only like 10% of my coworkers still wear masks. I’m not looking forward to saying “I told you so” in a few weeks.

Guess what happened two weeks after this post? COVID outbreak in the department, a dozen colleagues and their entire families infected.

My warehouse is stuck in this cycle where a bunch of people get Covid so the health department makes us wear masks until cases go down at which point everyone is allowed to take off their masks at which point a bunch of people catch Covid so the health department makes us wear masks until cases go down…we’re on our 3rd round

I don’t think mandatory masking at work should have ever gone away I hate this

We’re heading towards this exact path. We’re now working from home, soon they’ll have us back at the office but most likely won’t order us to wear masks.

Even a child could see why this is stupid, but oh well :shrug-outta-hecks:

Yes. Of course. And I shave more often to make sure my N95 gets a good seal. That’s really been the only inconvenience.

But it’s worth it to get that “only badass with a red hat” feeing that all the chuds have been high on for a while.

Oh, you didn’t want to be the only one at the WaWa that still understands a respiratory disease? interesting. :stalin-pipe:

I masked rigorously as did most of my collegues working to accomodate the increase in people ordering shit online in 2020, an extrordinarily shitty time to do that job. Wasn’t doing anything besides work, wasn’t seeing anybody. Caught it relatively quick, at work. Caught it again later, also at work.

I think masks are effective, but they aren’t so effective as you make it seem. Probably you just have a job that lets you stay home and that is why you didn’t catch it. And I don’t agree with blaming the sick when they get sick during a plague, I am sure your dad and all his friends are huge assholes, but its a plague. People get sick!

Were either of these two statements correct?

  • People took off their masks in the break room to eat lunch, or similar.

  • Most people were wearing cloth masks or loose surgical masks.

Those would explain why they had limited effectiveness. For a mask to work reliably it has to fit and filter properly - this is how many doctors can work in plague conditions and not get sick (unless they’re unlucky when changing masks/eating lunch/they get germs on their hands and touch their eyes/etc.). Unfortunately, the people in charge did a very bad job of explaining this and making good masks available.

I was not using the breakroom at the time. The second statement definitely though. Eventually we were given kn95s but not for a while.
