The flophouse wiki article actually mentions pods as a form of flophouse.
On the one hand, the sleeping situation and price aren’t much different from a capsule hotel in Japan.
On the other hand, capsule hotels are required to have enough toilets and showers for maximum occupancy and are subject to licensing and inspections.
All in all, fuck this guy for taking another step on the race to the fucking bottom for housing conditions.
