The 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Galician) is today honored by many Ukrainian nationalists.[59] Since 2010 every year on 28 April a march is held to celebrate the foundation of the division.[60] In addition streets were named after the division in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukrains`koi Dyvizii Street) and Ternopil (Soldiers Division “Galicia” Street).
And
In Canada
A monument to the division stands in St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery in the Canadian city of Oakville; according to the manager of the cemetery, the monument was probably erected in the 1980s.[62] On 22 June 2020 the monument was vandalized when someone painted “Nazi war monument”[63] on it. On 17 July of that year, it was announced by the Halton Regional Police that this was being investigated as a hate crime before being walked back soon after.[64][63]
There is also a monument to the division in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Edmonton.[65] In 2021 it was vandalized with “nazi monument” painted on one side and “14th Waffen SS” on the other.[66]
The place is also a museum where nazis regularly go to. I remember reading an interview with the museum management in which they said they where trying to reverse the intention of that room, in which nazis originally had to stand at attention, by letting people chill there. As if fucking nazis are unable to appreciate their murder symbols sitting down, or standing beside some bags.
I get that point of view but at the same time there are Neo-Nazis who go to Auschwitz to gloat and celebrate the Holocaust so there’s not much that can be reasonably be done except close down the museums (which would benefit Nazis by covering up their crimes).
They never re-did the tiling? Or like, put vinyl over it? Hell all you need is a big throw rug.
Looks like David Lynch decorated it
Minor nitpick: “Obergruppenführersaal hall” is redundant, “Saal” already means “hall”. So it should either just be “Obergruppenführersaal” or “Obergruppenführer hall”.
Beisdes that, i’m now wondering if NATO has a sponsorship deal with Fatboy bean bag chairs.
English is so sloppy like that. I think about it every time I go to an ATM machine, and input my PIN number while looking at the LCD display.
