Children of Men is phenomenal and an absolute masterpiece, but a bit serious and dark. If you want something a bit more lighthearted, I would suggest Dr. Strangelove which is just absurdist af

Children of Men is one of my favourite movies. It’s themes and commentary is still relevant, and it’s shot beautifully.

if you have netflix i just watched the platform and it was very very good. only if you don’t mind subtitles though, the audio is in spanish. and it doesn’t say it out loud but it has very obvious political undertones that you will understand almost immediately.

also on netflix, marriage story is really good it has the dude who plays kylo ren and scarlett johansson in it. it’s about this couple getting a divorce and it made me cry.

not on netflix but one of my favorite movies of the last decade is arrival. it’s about aliens and shit and that’s all you need to know going into it, it’s best going into it blind. it has some “china bad” shit in it but i can get over that pretty easily.

OP I dunno if you’re into getting fucking depressed but one of my favourite movies is the 1985 Soviet film “Come and See”. It’s kinda esoteric, but it’s a real important film and will most likely fuck up your day.
