I’ve been watching a dog adoption show and like every time there is a straight cis family looking for a dog the husband will inevitably pipe up and loudly declare that he wants a large, male dog. They don’t want a small dog, because small dogs are “yappy, and more of an accessory than a ‘real’ dog”
Fuck these guys, all dogs are good. Even ones that look like this :scared: :egg-dog:
But also please adopt your pets from a rescue. All dogs derserve love and just because someone gave their tiny dog a sweater doesn’t mean they think they’re an item. Some dogs love dressing up. :comrade-doggo:

Eh, I find it strange that many people who I’d consider progressive get pure bred dogs with breathing problems from a breeder.
yeah, not all small dogs but I heavily judge anyone who pays money for pure-bred pug or similar breeds that are basically bred to be ‘adorable’ instead of having functional airways
Yeah I don’t think those breeds are ethical to be bred but at the same time there are a ton of them in shelters that need to be adopted and loved.
I think cats are great because it’s impossible to be weird like this about cats. They’re basically all the same.
The people who are weird about cats are the ones who are like “No, cat’s are mean and can’t be your friend”
Usually the same people who hate small dogs.

Yeah as someone that grew up with cats I never understood peoples perception of them. Thankfully the internet has kind of helped people realise they’re lovable goobers :party-cat:
Just using this as an excuse to say how much I love my cat, she’s so floofy and sassy.
She only weighs 8lbs, but had to be separated from all the other cats as she’d bully them. She will sit down in front of me at the computer during meetings and hit me if I try to use the keyboard or mouse, or talk. And yet, she’s the cuddliest little thing when I’m not having my surplus value expropriated :cat-com:

they can be good but they tend to get no training because people assume that them being small and “harmless” means it’s unnecessary
