Given that the map has a tendency to not move for extended periods of time, and this is technically the all-encompassing news thread and not just the Ukraine War thread, I do want to try putting other images for the thread.
I’m undecided about what exactly to put there though. I can think of two ways of doing it: a) doing a similar thing to the general megathread where we pre-plan a topic or concept to display every week and have a small description about it, or b) get an image of an important news event that has happened, maybe over the weekend before the thread switches, and display that instead.
I would appreciate thoughts and feedback.

Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins
Defense Politics Asia’s youtube channel and their map. I recommend their map more than the channel at this point, as an increasing subscriber count has greatly diminished their quality.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)
Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources. Beware of chuddery.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are fairly brainworm-free and good if you don’t want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. The Duran, of which he co-hosts, is where the chuddery really begins to spill out.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Idk what they were expecting. People have to get jobs to pay higher prices. The only thing there are doing here is maybe, just maybe, collapsing the real estate market, but all the housing is so over inflated that will kill real estate moguls if it collapses, because they’ve been borrowing like this will never end. However, they can’t let that happen since those real estate guys are basically the primary driving force in local politics across the U.S.

Like the heart behind the reason the dude did the thing was definitely in the right, but the result of his work - instead of in his reasoning that it would help protect dudes in the defence of the country should the worst possibility ever occure - is used to go to far off lands and massacre innocent people.
It’s still incredibly funny however how the clowns at the Pentagon took a very simple and basic concept and turned it into a whole circus that lasted 17 years and 14 billion dollars. I can only dream of what sort of nightmares happened behind the scenes for their new crash copter they’re replacing the Blackhawks with, and all the other golden gun bullshit they got in the works.
The Pentagon Wars is the most accurate depiction of American defense acquisition ever made. Senior GS types would tell the new people to watch it to prepare for the shitshow they had entered. Seeing how the sausage got made was definitely the last straw that got me on the path to being a communist.
