Avatar is still a mediocre movie (with thoroughly average characters and plot). It’s not better, as a film, than any marvel slop.

If that wasn’t enough, James Cameron is not someone to be admired. He’s a horrible person who abused his cast and crew to hell and beyond. All to make a movie that is filled with the most stereotypical indigenous representation and extremely basic world building.

What if all the plants glowed? Wouldn’t that be super cool?! I am a genius.

All the tribes in the world have the same hierarchical (and stereotypical) structure and speak the same language.

And the next film is about the “bad” navis apparently. So, it’s not even gonna be about (the most mild critique) of colonialism anymore.

Yes, it looks pretty. But that’s about it. It’s better than Marvel and Top Gun (barely) but nothing to be celebrated or memed about. He is an anti-worker piece of shit who doesn’t give a shit about indigenous struggles or their experience.

Read what some indigenous critics have said of the film and his comments. Read what his cast and crew have said of how he treated them.

Do you want Noble Savage stereotypes where the indigenous Na’vi can do no wrong, or do you want a more complicated story where the Na’vi have their own political agency and don’t always do the obviously moral thing? My main complaint is that this idea has taken three films to get around to - Avatar 1 should have had comprador Na’vi who needed to be defeated along with the humans.

I guess with actual human settlers there will be the comparador/collaborateur urge, before there just wasn’t that many humans and they apparently just stuck to mining. The actual irl indigenous americans helped colonials too, especially at first when they were weak and distant.

Not to mention the stuff he’s said along the lines of, “I imagined how the Sioux (already a red flag) would feel if they could see the future and of what happened to their people.”

Motherfucker, indigenous people knew what was happening to them and don’t need a colonizer telling them that they would’ve tried harder if they only knew the end result. No one does what Cameron does without having a James Bond villain level of ego.

What a take. Marvel movies are MIC propaganda. They’re explicitly bad in avatar 2. Try harder haters.

I must be taking the crazy pills because the avatar movies always seemed like some of the most egregious white savior bullshit put to film. I do not understand the chapo/hexbear love of the movies. Thoroughly mediocre plot and characters, ignoring actual criticism and consulting by indigenous peoples, and they just had to have Anglo McWhitey teach the natives how to fight and become their prophesied messiah demigod figure. 🤮

Avatar is popular internationally with non-white audiences, far moreso than most Hollywood stuff

The “bad” Navi are gonna be collaborators and compradors, and James Cameron will use the Fanonist method of brutally executing them for their treason, and it will be glorious

Zootopia is still a mediocre movie (with thoroughly average characters and plot). It’s not better, as a film, than any marvel slop.

If that wasn’t enough, Rich Moore and Byron Howard are not people to be admired. They’re horrible people who abused their cast and crew to hell and beyond. All to make a movie that is filled with the most stereotypical furry representation and extremely basic world building.

What if the bunny was a cop? Wouldn’t that be super cool?! I am a genius.

All the animals in the world have the same hierarchical (and stereotypical) structure and speak the same language.

And the next film is about the “bad” animals apparently. So, it’s not even gonna be about (the most mild critique) of racism anymore.
