The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Schicklgruber shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower. But war never changes. In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired.

That was the point of the refrain: all wars are about property. All wars ultimately stem from economic concerns. The pretensions to ‘G‐d’s will’ or ‘human rights’ are merely window‐dressing. It is money that pays for wars, and it is money which warmongers seek to eventually acquire from their investments. The technology involved in wars improves, but the underlying motives do not.

I see that Musk is as unsophisticated a political analyst as he is an engineer, unless maybe he’s pretending to be a dullard so that we’ll think that all of his horrible decisions were accidental. Either way, I’m sure that he and Todd Howard would get along nicely.
