Britain is really funny. It’s about the king or queen being in danger and needing god to save them. How is this supposed to inspire anyone lmao. Others anthems are singing about the history and achievements of the people, surviving war, fighting off invaders, and so on. And then the Brits are just like “OH MY GOD THE QUEEN IS BEING SIEGED!!!”

It’s the same song but the lyrics are different. For official stuff it gets even weirder cause there’s a both languages version that swaps with each verse.
Yeah, cause Americans don’t go insane over trying to pretend each of their 57 or whatever states they crammed into there are all somehow distinct. But yeah, the entire giant ass country above is just America Jr.
The Bosnians, God bless’em, solved this problem by making their national anthem completely wordless.
I like the French version cause it’s about how Canada has a cool sword and is surrounded by flowers. Plus I can be an unbearable ass when they’re singing the anthem by singing it in French with the worst possible accent mix of joual, Parisienne, and horrible Anglo.
Saying Canadian history is one of the most brilliant of exploits is literally true but not how they meant it as being a tale of epic grandeur. It’s boring af. Dunno about being double dipped in Valor either. The French version is more boastful for sure.
