I’ve seen right wingers use this KGB defector as proof that everything they don’t like is communist subversion for years now.
But lately even liberals have latched on to him as proof that Russia is behind everything bad in the United States.

He was not KGB, he was a journalist and an informant. He then began his carieer as an anticommunist grifter in the US. His claims has zero proof in any historical sources. Today he would claim that he was chinese spy and would talk about chinese subversion.
