I don’t really understand why DeSatan doesn’t just sit this one out and wait for 2028. Trump has far too much inertia and cult of personality around him to overcome and instead of embarassing himself infront of the hogs during the primaries he could just wait until next time. By then Trump will have either won his second term or eaten shit in the general, and by 2028 he’d probably be too old.

Regardless, I guess I’m slightly relieved that we (probably) won’t get the CIA fascist.

our current president ran like 5 times or whatever so clearly it doesn’t matter

Ditto.

A Disney adult CIA torture fascist is horror-comedy but 95+% horror.

He currently has the spotlight, won’t be governor of Florida by 2028, so likely this is his only opportunity to stay relevant

I don’t think DeSantis has announced yet and I don’t know if he will. Playing the “will he, won’t he” game has gotten him more national media coverage in the last few months than he’s gotten in a while. If he’s smart though, he’d just sit this out and let Trump do Trump shit. From stuff I’ve heard in podcasts and reporting, big money GOP financiers have been in the tank for him pushing him to run. I imagine there’s probably some coercion with that kind of backing.

Building a name for himself now is probably his best bet for 2028. He’ll be running as the guy to beat. I think it’s also possible that he overestimated his chances at taking :thicc-trump: in a 1-on-1. There was a (fairly meager) attempt to portray their 2018 midterm failure as a result of Trump and I can see how someone at the center of that could get swept up and think they’d be able to oust him this time

he’s term limited in 2026 as governor. two years out of the spotlight hurts his chances and momentum

I just don’t see Trump pulling off another general election win, it seems like he’s pretty tarnished. It just has the same feeling as Hillary, regardless of how bad they really are, their odds of success in any hypothetical match up probably just come down to who’s had more minutes of media dragging them consumed by voters over the years.

Having won over the “normal” people who used to vote GOP, Thiel/Crowe types should reasonably just sit back and let the Dems manage this empire. There’s no will within that party to do anything which actually affects them. But if they are actually so stupid that they’re committed to dumping as much money as possible into GOP wins, because of their dumb culture war shit, I guess it might happen.

I don’t know dude. Economic time bomb is ticking down right now without any announcement on student loan progress nor any other extension. We might see apathetic voters that just don’t care anymore

That’s true but whether that matters depends on if Republicans have learned anything from the midterms. They need to to campaign right. The economy was bad then too but Republicans focused on :frothingfash: culture issues and missed an easy layup.

His secret sauce is the Republicans are overtly planning to make sure votes for anyone else simply do not count, or allow the governor of a state to simply decide.

As they know they can’t get 51% of voters, but they CAN change the rules so they don’t have to.

The last few years he’s just been whining about how everyone is being unfair to him. And not in his funny way. He might get his mojo back in the GOP primary campaign, we will see. And if the economy is not going well, Biden might still lose. He is quite unpopular. And student loan payments begin again in like ~3 months, this won’t help him either.
