Huffman’s inability to turn hundreds of millions of dollars of advertising revenue into a profit for reddit is actually not the concern of the moderators, believe it or not. Since they’re not paid employees and are doing that work completely on their own time and money they can do whatever the heck they want. His site is built on free labor and if they don’t like the way the company is going they’re perfectly free to withhold that labor forever if they want to.
