Basically what’s your favorite part of Skyrim lore? Or Elder Scrolls lore in general?
Skyrim is an absurdist art piece to demonstrate the futility of life. Your character in the vanilla game is already a demigod, and with the power of the Command Console and mods can shape the world however you wish. But at the end of the day, you are still doing the same three types of dungeon crawler fetch quests over and over again.
Even the rare quests with some emotional impact are marred with poor voice acting, frequent glitches and the worst physics engine dream up by man. The real point of the game is to simply stop playing after you complete your 50th cave biome and understand that both Skyrim and your life are meaningless.
The White Gold Concordat is in fact the Treaty of Nanking—Thalmor are East India Company agents & Anglican Preachers. Ulfric is most charitably the leader of a Yihequan-equivalent, nativist reactionaries and chauvinists who while appropriately targeted at a foreign aggressor are too weak to change things because they lack a revolutionary understanding. a new Nord state with extra navel-gazing and mysticism will not magically become strong enough to challenge the foreign barbarians, no matter how many minorities they decide to pogrom.
Obligatory ‘Elisif the Fair is Hilary Clinton and Ulfric Stormcloak is Donald Trump’ post.
