Anyway I’m an INFJ, let’s discuss

Hell yeah I love horoscopes but with more steps. The whole introvert/extrovert thing is even worse

It really does feel like a horoscope for atheists and people who genuinely believe Freud was on to something

It is even worse than Freud, it is - may Allah forgive me for uttering this word - Jung

If they abandoned the birth month thing and just let people pick their favorite sign, horoscopes would be more accurate than Meyers-Brigs.

More than a test that arbitrarily assigns you a personality type that was generated by somebody coming up with four binary choices and filling out a chart.

i think the introvert extrovert thing has some merit but they don’t realize that 99% of people are an ambivert and somewhere in the middle and its basically a meaningless metric.

what if instead of ambivert it was bimbovert and it was just for the fellas?

At least the stars are real things that move about, introvert extrovert is literally just nothing

Supposedly extroversion-introversion spectrum is a thing that has biological underpinnings and is also observed among apes.

Any test that relies on self-reported answers is going to be partially bullshit.

I remember gaming my tests to give me a “machiavellian” personality back when I was a teen. hehe im so cool and i don’t care about anything

This is particularly true in the Feeling/Thinking dimension of MBTI.
“Do you think with your MIND or with your FEELINGS???” Yeah I’m sure literally anyone answered that one truthfully.

That said it’s gotta have some amount of correlation to actual personality traits, and I can say consistently that INTJs (or rather, people who evaluate themselves to be INTJs) are the worst ones overall. I consistently test INTP. I think generally anybody with J, and to a lesser extent T and N, are going to be intolerable people to be around. To be honest the very existence of J is incompatible with T, because Judging is inherently a Feeling activity.

MBTI is bad and cringe but is probably slightly accurate with a weak correlation coefficient of like .3 or something. As bad as it is, it’s still nowhere near the absolute astrology that is the political compass.

I get a different result every time, so I think my personality type is LIAR

My results weren’t as random as that, but it was entirely shaped about how I felt at the time. Mood: “I’m not always social, but I want to be more social.” Result: “Extrovert.” Mood: “People suck and tire me out.” Result: “Introvert.” Similar with the others - get a result I don’t like? Retake the test and answer differently on questions I wasn’t sure about - BAM! opposite result.

There’re definitely different personality types, but it’s hard to fit them into a simple system. They’re a little help if you want to understand yourself (a useful exercise, if not taken to extremes), but they’re no substitute for life experience or just talking to more people. The measure of a person is other people.

IMO the intro/extro and thinking/feeling dimensions are the least important parts of the test and can be completely ignored

I think the other parts might have something behind them tho

I’ve gotten ENFP, then ENTP, then ENFP again, then INTP. I may have dissociative identity disorder.

Idk why people even follow that shit, every Psych 101 class basically treats it as “astrology for nerds but boring”
