Not so fun fact - learned the N word as a white kid in first grade at a school with a lot of black kids. I don’t even know how to say this without being offensive. I’ll just say I picked up on the vernacular. A few weeks after school started I was in line at Sears with my mom. A black woman got in line behind us. I asked if she was a N word. My mom slapped the dog shit out of me, apologized to the woman, and took me home and explained to me what a piece of shit I was.
I sort of learned it as early as first grade too. I was reading a map of Africa on the wall and pronounced “Niger” as you might expect a first grade trying to be edgy would say it. I knew it was a bad word but had literally no idea what it meant. Some adult passing by (a parent, not a teach) scolded me fiercely for it. This was in the south in the early 90s, so good on that guy for calling me on my bullshit.
Racism is gone because it’s impolite to say the n word in certain kinds of company, now.
You know who uses the N-words without regard for propriety?
THOSE people.
And they call women the B-word, too!!!
It’s disgraceful. Can you believe they’re even allowed to vote?!
This country is going to hell in an handbasket, and I can tell you exactly why.
