Wasn’t there a soccer match in Ukraine between Lviv and a city in the separatist region where the Lviv fans had a huge Bandera banner? I was trying to find it but couldn’t find the right terms.

e:

found this which is similar but not what I was looking for:

also found this site talking about the Lviv football fans being nazis (CW: nazi stuff) from 2013:

https://simplyjews.blogspot.com/2013/04/lviv-football-fans-remedy-for-nostalgia.html

Describing posters the Lviv fans made ahead of the match against Odessa:

spoiler

DEATH TO THE K*KES Ukrainian football championship

And at the bottom right side, opposite the name of the local team:

K*kes Shit at the sea

And, if you have missed it somehow, the background of that banner shows the Auschwitz gate. Yup.

AND:

Here is what I was looking for ( also from 2013):

Dunno if that’s as much in support of Russia as it is anti-azov

The victory flag is widely used but I think the fact they carry around and put up the Donbas republic flags at least shows they understand the context around the conflict imo.

I think if they’re simply nationalists they’re at least smart enough, they could have just brought a huge Z and a Russian flag, but then they wouldn’t even be let inside the stadium.

It’s pretty easy to support the republics but not support Russia. The lpr and dpr were legitimately faced with an extremely hostile government that took power in a coup that overthrew the democratically elected government that was popular in the east. Whatever you think about Russia’s involvement if you actually look at the motivations of the republics, and the aggression of Kiev, you can easily see legitimate arguments for the Republics initial demands of autonomy within ukraine, and later the decision to join Russia after years of unrelenting aggression and bad faith from the Kiev Rada.
