If you can find a Radeon RX 5500 XT either used or on sale in the $150-160 range, they have pretty decent performance for the money if you’re gaming at 1080p.
Edit: The R9 590 is also pretty cheap these days, but they’re freaking space heaters, and perform about the same as a 5500 XT while using almost double the power. Tom’s Hardware has a “hierarchy” chart for GPUs here; looks like the GTX 1xxx series still hold their own, too:
