No, the correct path forward is to call them idpol-obsessed libs and sit in my computer chair playing videogames until rightist child soldiers firebomb my house

its also crucial we have the same repeating non stop never ending struggle sessions every single time someone mentions dsa. oh no wait we dont, literally go read a book, anything is more productive than going out of your way to start needless drawn out struggle sessions about dsa on chapo.chat every day

Are DSA and SA friendly out in Seattle, then?

I feel like the SA in Boston is pretty suspicious of Boston DSA.

SA in Seattle is highly egotistical and they’re selective about who they let in and they think they’re way better than everyone else. Sawant is really based though and she’s the SA leader so I can’t hate on them too much.

DSA in Seattle has really cool people. I’m a member and all my friends are DSA here in Seattle

In Boston DSA I’ve definitely seen/heard people who sound like they got their political education from compass memes, complaining about PSL authcoms being in a red-brown alliance or having a pro-stalin pro-assad line. There’s also plenty of cool people actually trying to do local work for unhoused and tenants rather than picking fights with other socialists.

I’ve done some work with BDSA, I know some people from the old ISO days.

SAlt in Seattle has a couple hundred dues paying members per my latest understanding, but they had like a split a couple years back and I haven’t really been paying close attention. No way any of their other chapters are nearly as big. SA engages in a ton of opportunism in Seattle in order to appease succdem urbanist activist types because of meaningful fear of Sawant losing her seat.

You see a lot of people complaining about SA trying to co-opt other people’s struggles to advance unrelated goals. Seattle DSA is definitely more friendly with like Warren supporter yimby urbanists than other DSA chapters, but I think that has more to do with the yimby urbanists in those other cities being much more right wing.

Unless you’re in a major city, DSA is probably the most likely place you’ll meet other marxists. I’ve been involved with two chapters and they really did a lot of good for the community.

This can also be true even in big cities, you definitely see some other socialist orgs use entryism into DSA to recruit for their more radical orgs.

If not anything else, DSA is a good watering hole for activists. The chapter over here isn’t half bad.
