My hope is that this is just another empty promise from Elon and he’s just grifting the defence establishment since there is no appetite for green washing in the current US administration. But still this is dark shit.
One of the most heartbreaking things I ever learned about space was that the space shuttle was entirely designed by the USAF to be a weapons delivery program for low earth polar orbits. Had nothing to do with being able to build the ISS or launch Hubble. That was just the civilian cover to justify all the NROL missions.
There is also a mini space shuttle, the X-37[B], looks just like the regular one, that is unmanned and used for classified missions.
