I don’t think I’ve seen anybody (plz link if I’m wrong) defending Chomsky on his ideology, instead more of a “Leave the old man alone”.

I don’t agree with ole Noam on a lot, but the dude was anti-vietnam back when the fucking CIA was in its heyday. Dude risked a lot by being vocally anti-war back when they’d hire a goon to pretend to fall in love with you and stay with you for years just for the intel. He lectured in Hanoi the same year the national guard was gunning down students at Kent State for protesting. He’s very open about not being a communist or ML. Feel free to take dunks on him, but it’s like making fun of Proudhon. He was from a different time.

His work is good for getting people into leftist ideas. Is he perfect? Nope. But he risked more by being vocally anti-imperialist than I have (and I would guess some of you as well). Let treebeard live out his retirement and spend time trying to move people on from his ideological legacy. Splitting is not a healthy or helpful defense mechanism.
