Personally, I’m OK with emoji as long as you don’t spam them (3+ times the same emoji is spamming imo)
1 emoji for a normal expression
2 emoji for a heavy expression
3 emoji is still acceptable but my personal limit of tolerance

Not quite the same, but you can just type :cat and it pops up a quick list.
I gratuitously use cat emoji don’t worry. It’s not the same without blobby though.
