A very liberating moment for me was realising that there’s no ‘merit tank’ you can fill up with blood sweat and tears.
It may seem like work must have a payoff because the act of performing labour feels like a compromise - you do this act you don’t want to do compared to something you’d rather do, in return for something
However, sometimes it is just completely arbitrary and there’s no reason to do it. You find this work in basically every job - ‘busywork’ or ‘makework’.
TL;DR shit on company time
jesus this is depressing
cucks for capitalism
Eh
People deal with things differently
Maybe this helps get cope

I feel like in some people capitalism produces a terrible anxiety around not working, whether or not they really care about the work they do. I used to have some of the same mindset (not quite this bad), and labored under the delusion that working gave me worth and purpose and if I stopped for too long the world would end. It is truly a fuck.
I knew someone who told me they don’t like taking many days off because they feel like they’re not being productive and contributing to society.
