Obama was widely hated in 2012. People forget that the Tea Party was making serious noise leading up to that election and the GOP pretty much lost it by pushing Mitt Romney. And yet despite Romney being a terrible candidate, he was doing pretty good until the 47% thing and being so open about his hate towards poor people.
Trump really was like an endgame result of the Tea Party movement. I strongly believe that had the GOP ran Trump in 2012, they probably beat Obama. Trump would’ve been attacking him constantly, on a daily basis and would’ve got those disillusioned voters who were angry at what a massive disappointment Obama was.
If Trump’s election and everything that followed has led these people to think that Joe Biden is the answer to our problems, I’m sorry but they aren’t waking up. These people will just be stupid pigs until they die.
I agree. Our only hope is for the Biden administration to have complete control of Congress, try to pass what we predict that they will try to pass (austerity, more foreign intervention,…) and encountering a lot of popular left-wing resistance that spills over into the 2024 Dem primary.
The only problem is if that resistance is led only by Bernie-I’m old-and-got-nothing-to-lose-Sanders, since that won’t create younger left-wing leaders.

Nah, I think that both Clinton and Biden said something like: if you don’t campaign for me more than I am campaigning for myself, I will just work with “moderate” Republicans to do austerity and foreign wars and you know that you will be the only member of the Dem caucus to vote no on that, so you will be completely irrelevant.
The thing is, they will do that ANYWAY.
