“To give the devil his due, fascism was ruthlessly efficient in times of unrest and in the organization of national resources, bringing stability and security to the people.” That’s incredibly far from correct that it’s laughable. For example, Germany’s economy under fascism was “completely unsustainable” and not at all “efficient.”
This quote, however, is pretty funny.
Fascism’s unique effects combined with both of America’s unique military units becoming available in the Modern Era allows this particular civilization can achieve a massive mid-to-late game military powerspike.
They weren’t efficient. They are hyper-neoliberal capitalist dystopias of corruption and autocratic mismanagement
It’s also a civic that everyone has to take, and the ideology/government choice for capitalism is called “democracy”.
Just so much unabashed ideology. Democracy and capitalism civics should be swapped.
Wish there was a mod just to correct the dumbass bad politics baked into the game
With the erosion of personal freedoms and a solely materialistic approach to problems, most communist nations fell behind in the race to progress. Didn’t help that the bureaucracy too often proved corrupt and inefficient (in part, due to the apparatus of state security) and that paranoia led to a massive (and expensive) military complex.
This describes the modern day US almost perfectly.
