Piracy is absolutely also fueled by price.
You’re right, but the reason they otherwise wouldn’t have paid for it is, in a lot of cases, the price. They otherwise wouldn’t have paid full price for it, but they possibly would have bought it for some amount less. For example, if I think a game looks interesting but it costs too much, I’ll pirate it. If I like it and later it’s on sale for a price I think is reasonable, I’ll buy it.
Price isn’t the only reason, but it is a major one.
I’ve always hated how I was born too early to 3D print all the illegal drugs I want on some super advanced molecular printer. This is the future, and this future includes SWAT teams shooting your dog at 2 AM because you downloaded schematics to print Ketamine.
