We need more variety here, the sub had sooo much more content. I like what’s here so far but damn we need more dank memes and less saccharine shit. Is this because we can’t post memes?

You mean Top of the day right? There is no “hot” of the day. Hot is just one sort option, all the day/week/month/all are straight sorts by Top.
I think the main problem with Hot right now is that it’s not weighting out a top 3 posts of the day like reddit does. Reddit’s current algorithm is heavily about setting apart 2-3 posts for the day as “super” posts and then the rest battle to get picked as the posts to displace them.
I only browsed by new, so I’m loving the content style feed of the new/comment section

not sure on the specifics but there are some kinds of limits based on how much karma you have and possibly other metrics like account age, but it’s not specifically targeting memes
I can’t even see my karma or know how much I need to post :'( This feels like there’s a posting nomenklatura that none of us party members can get into until the amorphous moderating state power apparatus decides we’re worthy

Those are the most productive posters, poster aristocracy if you will. Some are just better at posting than the rest and deserve more attention. Gommunism debunked!
