The Communist Party of the United States of America (CPUSA) was established on this day in 1919. CPUSA provided legal aid to the Scottsboro Boys, helped poor Southern farmers form sharecropper unions, and promoted communist ideas within the U.S.
The party was established after a split in the Socialist Party of America following the Russian Revolution, and initially operated underground due to the Palmer Raids, a series of anti-immigrant, anti-labor, and anti-communist raids conducted by Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer.
CPUSA was an early opponent of segregation and racial discrimination, giving legal aid to the Scottsboro Boys and helping poor black farmers in the South organize sharecropper unions. Because of this, the party had a strong presence in Alabama in the 1930s. This history is detailed in “Hammer and Hoe: Alabama Communists during the Great Depression” by historian Robin D.G. Kelley.

Wife’s old friend posted a deranged transphobic political cartoon on facebook and it made me log into the website for the first time in years and immediately get unfriended after arguing with someone in the comments for 5 minutes.
People like her are actively trying to make the world worse for my kid and I won’t fucking stand for it. Before i had the baby I will be honest I’d let a lot of stuff slide because honestly I have the privilege of doing so and it was easier. Now it’s like any little thing I don’t push back on is affecting the world they’ll grow up in.
Recently been worried that having a child would make me less useful to any communist cause but it appears it’s already made me more useful
Agent 47 you can’t wear a women’s maid outfit as a disguise. You’ll have to find a male outfit because for some reason they all fit perfectly on you. Even the shoes.
But the skirt feels so breezy, I feel my tactical awareness and natural instincts will be heightened. And no one will call me out because they’ll be too afraid I’ll accuse them of a hate crime.
