Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is a hidden gem I don’t think a lot of people have played. Something about the pixel art and the characters keep me coming back to this game - which is very rare. I generally only play games once.
Their new game Minoria is… good… but not nearly as good as Momo IMO (trying too hard to be dark souls) but could also be worth playing if you’re a fan of Momo or a really big Metroidvania fan.
What are your current favs or discuss whatever below.
Edit: A clean GoG installer for Momodora magically appeared here. If you end up liking it as much as me please support the developer - they deserve it.
hollow knight kicks ass
Bloodstained was alright as an IGAvania sequel. Though it has some missteps in terms of boss-fights along the way. It’s probably the ONE Kickstarter revival game that sort of fulfilled its promises.
I need to get around to playing Death’s Gambit, Icey, and Dead Souls along with Guacamelee.
Axiom verge fucking slaps
super metroid. does that count. i had a snes as a kid but never played it, or the GBA remake. thinking about trying it out. looks cool
I don’t think it had a GBA remake. Zero Mission was a remake of the original.
The last metroidvania I really played was probably Ori and the Blind Forest, that was awesome. I have the second one installed on my Xbox but haven’t gotten around to playing it yet.
It’s more platformer than combat based, although there is some combat. It can get pretty tough at parts but you always just respawn at where you entered the screen so you can just attempt the screen 100 times in a minute and die over and over (like super meat boy or something lol). It’s on gamepass if you have access to that.
