Awake too much during the night due to stressing about today. Nothing I can do but get through it. Urg.
Morning full of meetings.
Afternoon full of typing and retyping emails to remove my snarky tone.
I’m about to dip out for a walk.
New car has been acquired!! Picking up the housemate so we can go joy riding for the afternoon!
I think I can call it a day for day 1 back at work. Feeling pretty good about it. Got caught up with people and things, set up some chats and made sure people know I’m here to help if they need me. Even squeezed in a walk and bought a kick ass ceramic Frank Green keep cup with a $25 discount code I got from a friend. 9/10 would Monday again.
You can customise the cups which is rad. I made mine Melbourne Storm themed!
I made the joke last night that showing rugby related things on the news is stupid in vic. (statistically speaking) and now I feel bad.
We are out there! We could be your neighbours, colleagues, or random internet forum members!
So I didn’t get the job that I applied for. But in a weird twist the team leader for the role who interviewed me is leaving the organisation this week. She asked if we could connect on Linkedin as she thought i had a lot to offer and wants to keep me in mind for roles that come up at her new employer. So i guess that is a win.
Hmm could it also be that that was probably not a good workplace for you and so she rejected your application but kept you in the loop for future roles?
Possibly. I don’t think ultimately the final decision was hers to make but the CEO’s as he was on the second round interview with her. I don’t think the CEO was too keen on me by the end of the interview but I think if it had been up to the team lead I may have gotten it. Based on some of the reviews of the organisation on Glassdoor, the CEO seems to be quite controlling and a lot of people leave because of him. So i probably dodged a big bullet
Ooo that’s bloody brilliant. That’s great!
Edit: I realise my comment makes it seem like I’m happy you didn’t get the job, lmfao. That sucks to hear, I am excited for the team leader connecting with you on Linkedin
Networking!! Very nice!!! That’s actually better than getting the role (apparently ~80% of the available jobs aren’t advertised; the only way to get them is networking). You have done very well!! 💜💜💜
Yeah she is overseas at the moment and wants to catch up for coffee when she gets back. So who knows haha I’m usually terrible at networking.
That sounds very, very promising! She wouldn’t do this if she didn’t see something in you. I think you’ll be fine at this coffee catch up, don’t go in with huge expectations or trying to impress, being friendly and curious might be all it takes. Based on what you said about the CEO, this is increasingly sounding like a better outcome anyway… I’d take her positive feedback as a win at the very least.
