I saw Come and See for the first time a few days ago. Instantly thought it was one of the best movies I’ve seen. Such a powerful film that deserves to be watched at least once.
The way it is filmed to illustrate the horrors of Nazi war crimes on the eastern front. The camera work and sound design is top-notch. Very little blood and gore but the movie is disturbing even without that. It’s almost like a horror film.
I got the news my dad died like an hour after watching Come and See. Not a good day.
when florian returns to the family farm and looks in the well, in the reflection at the bottom he has his hair shorn like at the end of the film
I see it as imparting inevitability; his choices and others have led to the terrible outcomes present and future . Remember, Florian subconsciously already knows that something it very wrong at home. His family’s lying dead around the corner, and he’s going to find them. The future he sees in the well is already his present.
