Wait Schumer could have forced the vote for all that shit the democrats passed in the house? HR1, heroes act, all of it?
No. Schumer canot force a vote on this stuff. He could ask for unanimous consent, which isn’t really a “vote”. Essentially, any one senator can try to force a vote, but any one senator can block that request. Imagine the following:
Schumer: “I would like to pass this bill with unanimous consent.”
Presiding officer: “Recognized. Does anyone object?”
Any random GOP stooge: “I object.”
Presiding officer: “Objection is heard. Unanimous consent denied.”
And that’s it. No vote; McConnell decides what gets voted on. Schumer could have done the same for heroes act, hr1, whatever but like…wouldn’t amount to a whole lot. When you’re in the minority you’re pretty cucked.
