I don’t give a fuck how cliche the phrase is, it still applies: “imagine explaining this to someone in 2016”
You wouldn’t have wondered why Grimes was being interviewed about AI & KPOP?
No, not really. She’s always been a weird indie artist with an interest in Eastern culture and sci-fi shit.
In 2015, she released Art Angels. The art that came with that album is this: Art
The most surprising part of this interview would probably have been that Grimes was a mom.
I’m becoming increasingly convinced that my ignorance on the subject of Dune is now a moral imperative
I read Dune right after reading ASOIAF and was blown away by the writing quality. The classics are the classics for a reason. Also the love scenes - GRRM write porn, Frank Herbert writes love.
Book one is amazing and highly recommended. Book two is still great, but it’s a long tome of people lying to each other so you have no idea what’s going on until the very end. Book three doesn’t have the same brilliance, IMO, but it’s worth reading. I’m told book four is the hardest to get through and most polarizing, so I haven’t attempted it.
Random - I listened to an audio book of Dune where the love interest Chani’s name was pronounced exactly like Dick Cheney’s last name. Fucking assault on the ears.
I’m told book four is the hardest to get through and most polarizing, so I haven’t attempted it.
That’s actually my favourite (either that one or book five), though I can see how it could be polarizing. I suggest giving it a try.
I fully expect that movie to be bad. I found Blade Runner 2049 beautiful visually but incredibly boring and forgettable beyond that, and I think the new Dune will be exactly the same - hopefully I’m wrong.
Who ever said podcasts were good?
