what is/was their role on the ship? I feel like a belt or sash across the chest is classic pirate. could also try more flare; ruffled neck, thicker boot tops, thick sleeve wrist part, looser clothes. a coat, vest, or corset? do they use a rapier?
They arent really on a ship. I just gave them a bandana, pants and boots and i just thought they looked like a pirate and gave them the shirt and belt and a pirate ish backstory.
I’ve never seen pirates with a sash or belt across the chest. Is that common?
