Considering I have seen people here and on reddit mention how it is not rare for death penalties to not be ultimately carried out in the PRC under certain circumstances, I would like to bring this up:
BREAKING: 赖小民 Lai Xiaomin, former head of China Huarong 华融 Asset Management, was just sentenced to DEATH by a court in Tianjin on Tuesday, Jan. 5, the state broadcaster reported.
Note: NO “two-year reprieve” here. Barring dramatic changes, Lai will be EXECUTED.
