Itā€™s also supported by science. A part of Right-wing Authoritarianism is that those people are psychologically disinclined to think rationally about things, because it goes against their values, which makes them worse at thinking.

Yes, culture can make people less intelligent; and it does so to the rightwing every generation. Even more generally, the science around the psychological phenomena known as Right-wing Authoritarianism should be required reading for the left, imo.
