Given my username, you might think I main a cringe character. WRONG! Bowser Jr is the least cringe character there is. He is perhaps the worst mid-tier character in the game, but he has plenty of unique strengths that make him able to win a lot of fights. He has one of the fastest approach options in the game, and if it hits the opponent it can combo to do over 60% and also can confirm into kills unfortunately, this move is countered by shielding at the ledge. That’s where neutral B, cannonball comes in. this move does a lot of shield damage, and unlike most chargeable projectiles it has a few unique properties. Its charge cannot be stored, and the important part about it, when after the move runs out of range, It falls down with a hitbox. This hitbox is separate from the first hitbox, and does an equally big amount of shield damage. The important part is that you can follow it with Side B, and if both hitboxes hit a full shield, congrats, its broken now. Another move that will make Jr’s opponent want to shield is Mechakoopa, a stage control move with insane combos that also can be used with his throws to extend their knockback. Mechakoopa is also the only reason battlefield is somewhat tolerable for Jr, because it can cover an entire platform effortlessly. His recovery is also very good, because side B can be used as a pseudo triple jump because you can cancel it into a jump, and his recovery move is excellent, until you get gimped at 0% because it has a mechanic where you don’t get your recovery back if you are hit with a weak move.
But all those upsides PALE in comparison to the real best part of bowser JR. You can claim to be a Roy man to people who don’t know who you play, and then troll them by playing THE COOLER ROY
I’ve never been a competitive Smash player, but I main Kirby. He and Ike are like the only two characters I play
