99% of people are bad at video games, and that’s fine because video games aren’t really consequential. you’re not inherently more pathetic than other people. you just currently have a lower emotional tolerance for failure because you’ve come to interpret the tiniest mistake as evidence of your irredeemable loserishness. you expect things that you can conceive of as simple to be easy to execute, but quite a lot of seemingly simple things aren’t actually easy, and that includes the long, difficult process of emotional transformation and self-love that you and all human beings are capable of, given the right circumstances.

I have ADHD, which gives me ample opportunity to find difficulty accomplishing tasks that I see others executing easily. I don’t feel like I’m good at much. All I can really do is not demand from myself that I achieve effortlessly, to make peace with the effort and continue ahead with it anyway, even if the rewards aren’t immediate and obvious.

ADHD Gang ADHD Gang

For real though, this shit sucks. It gets better with a diagnosis and meds (and coping strategies). But it still sucks.

Edit: As someone else pointed out, Dyspraxia could be in play. ADHD effects coordination and reaction timing, and can make me feel clumsy at times. But developmental coordination disorder can be bad enough that people with it can have problems just trying to tie their own shoes or get dressed, and that’s orders of magnitude more debilitating than anything I’ve experienced.

Solidarity with anyone with Dyspraxia. While we’re at it, solidarity with anyone who has any other type of neurodivergence, no matter how severe it is. And solidarity regardless if you’ve even gotten an official diagnosis or not. Also plugging /c/neurodiverse for people who don’t know it exists.
