I have issues with sleep walking and have moved into a place with roommates and I think it kinda freaks them out finding me asleep in places in the house besides my room in the morning. Doesn’t help my room gets kinda warm so I generally don’t have a lot of clothes on.
If I put a lock on the door is sleep zombie me gonna be smart enough to open it or will I just go back to bed?
Make the lock a riddle you have to answer
The answer is: yes, definitely. I once woke up in the street, and that required I go through at least three doors, one being locked.
I don’t technically sleep walk but there’s periods where I’m apparently awake enough to function but don’t recall the time at all, nor am I aware of it, maybe if I went to a sleep clinic they’d call it sleepwalking but I haven’t found the time or need to do that. For me its been stuff like turning off alarms (that have passcodes or puzzles), responding to texts with simple words but usually gibberish, answering people trying to wake me up with logical responses, or getting back into bed from doing something else; when it has happened I rarely do more than one at a time.
From that I figure you could probably do complicated tasks like undoing a lock if you’re sleepwalking as long as the task is routine enough; the lock might stop you for a bit but as you get used to undoing it in the morning you might just undo it in your sleep. Could be dangerous if there’s a fire or gas leak but I guess it could also be good if there was a break in? Maybe start with just putting a heavy box at the door and see if that helps? There might be actual products designed for sleepwalkers that could work for you
