hyperkalemic … too much iron
Out of curiosity, what’s the relationship between iron and hyperkalemia (too much potassium)? Like does this mean that the horse would just constantly have dangerously high potassium levels and if they get too much iron it interacts with that somehow to paralyze them (and IIRC paralysis is a symptom of hyperkalemia in humans too - hypokalemia as well I believe, since potassium is important for the nervous system to function and too much or too little makes nerves stop working right), or is it a misnomer and they just have a hard time eliminating metals like potassium and iron from their system in general making it easier for them to suffer from hyperkalemia or the iron equivalent?
