Notice how “the Norse” is always the evil part?

It’s been officially recognized after WW2 to be the major source of german militarism and consequently nazism.

It was dominated by Prussia and even from marxist point of view you can often read Lenin criticizing the prussian way of doing capitalism. Also Germany were harder against socialists than Austria and opressed minorities more (kulturkampf) while Austria in the same time given more political and way more cultural autonomy to than Germany.

So while Austria was indeed prison of nations, Germany were worse.
