The “gets smeared in the media” thing shouldn’t matter. If this site were to get big enough, it would get smeared too.
The hitpieces targetted at the podcasts smeared them partly by associating them with the subreddit. Guess what, to most media people and consumers being a little problematic is far more palpable than being a Maoist or supporting a violent overthrow of the status quo. It’s just so funny to think that if the site got big it would have any positive media coverage.

I think it will stay the same. This site was never going to grow, it’s too easy to get banned. There is a very small range of acceptable discourse before a ban for reactionary thoughts comes out. No newbie is going to come in already having what this site considers acceptable views, and they won’t conform to the sites culture, they will leave.
I’m fine with it, peeps with niche views need their spaces. But those here who think they are part of some “lib to left pipeline” are fooling themselves. This website has never been that.
Isn’t changing the name capitulating already? Oh if only this site would give anyone a reason to smear it, that would at least be progress
proactive in fostering good-faith discussions within its community and avoiding the toxic behaviors of subreddits

You have a point, but on the other hand, Coke isn’t called Fizzy Sweet Diabetes Juice and it does just fine. Tons of names aren’t descriptive, but people figure it out anyway.
On the other hand people hear “proletarian.com” or whatever other overly literal stuff people were suggesting and their mind glazes over instantly because it sounds like some site some trot dickhead would tell you to visit to read all his orgs articles during a protest, people on here are dogshit at branding but complain about it all the same.
Literally every alternative suggested was like “People wont know what we are about if we dont name ourselves leftistproletariancommunist.chat” lmfao.
