I think it was less “enlightening” and more just you reaffirming that you couldn’t be bothered. You don’t believe masks are needed for people with an infectious illness? You don’t think someone that is sick should stay-at-home?

“I lost an uncle and a grandmother to COVID”, kinda feel bad for them that all you think of it now is “most places on earth treat it as the common cold nowadays.” How many members in your family have you lost to the common cold so far in the past few years?

“This all reflects my reality where I haven’t heard about or been affected by COVID for years now.”

“I’m just an average dude (LOL). I travel a lot half the year in USA and EU and chill in remote areas all winter.” Huh, wonder why your arguments sound like anti-covid mandates. Your dog whistles of “Are you suggesting that everyone needs to be staying home and not working? If everyone doesn’t go to work, how will people survive (food, water, climate control)?” are pure trolling. Plenty of people worked during the pandemic and only quarantined when necessary, you know, common sense. People might be harsh towards you on here but you’re definitely deserving of it with your responses.

Nah, you read everyone should be staying at home. Person had a following qualifier that you ignored.

“I didn’t realize there were covid extremists still thinking masks and stay-at-home orders are needed.”

“Im a big fan of masks and staying home when sick. Always have been. My whole life. Covid included.”

You’re all over the place. How am I suppose to follow along with your extremes that contradict each other? This must be a “we should follow common sense, but don’t have common sense regulations in place” argument I suppose.

Oh man I saw that segment and scouring back through my watched videos to find it for context (will edit later with the link when I find it). Idk about “living memory” (if that direct phrase was quoted), but I remember him talking about in his memory *comparing president’s like Clinton/Obama/Biden (maybe Carter was included). I still agree that statement was rather perplexing without him immediately filling in the context of what he means.

Happily though, I seem to recall his team immediately rejecting the premise and pushing back on his statement as un-profound. I think it’s something he needs to clarify, as it seems to hit everyone’s nerves a bit. Kinda funny how one statement can paint a picture of a guy and now a commenter is calling him a Liberal lol (he constantly has segments arguing with callers who are lib).

The inevitable book she publishes will be very interesting. I look forward to watching a 10 minute news segment on it before clicking on something else.

If you’re actually going for real nature, consider your local ecology. Do not by a large pack of wildflowers because those are nationally packed and usually aren’t considered native so can be invasive (which can also effect your local wildlife and the plant won’t fair as well in extreme’s for the area that a local plant would survive). Remember, bugs and animals come back to an area knowing a certain species of plant is there for them to survive or reproduce at, making more competition they aren’t familiar with harms their chances.

I would consider letting it grow naturally up and if you really want to do something than let the neighbor know so they stop cutting it down for hay (just make sure you’re actually gonna do something with it). Let the natural seeds that distribute get into the area and establish. Learn to take clippings and identify local flora when you see a cool plant you want, like a more scientific pokemon game if that interests you.

I’m doing something similar with some acres the previous owners just continued to massacre with mowing and looked like a barren wasteland. It took a few years for the right establishing plants to grow up and protect the other smaller and more delicate plants but this year is the first year it looks like a natural environment. I’ve been identifying what each growth is and it’s been fascinating researching them. Right now it’s a mini bee sanctuary because something is always in bloom and for the times only one plant-type is blooming I’m taking clippings and propagating them elsewhere on the property so there’s always a bunch of flowers at any point in the year.

I would start with propping up your local bee community since they survive on their own and you may fall in love with them. I have a bunch of ground and carpenter bee’s in my area that I don’t want to harm with an invasive colony like the honey bee’s. There’s also TONS of local honey producers so I just feel like I’m running after a gimmick since it’s already available and there are bee groups I can join that go to all the different farms for education and socializing. Any bee person would love some help if you went out and joined them.

If you want to get really technical, there’s landscaping creating berms and swales etc. But to get started I suggest watching some Andrew Millison videos as he’s great with visuals and knows his stuff when it comes to permaculture. How to Fix a Broken Ecosystem

fucking unreal. I watched the explosions the other day live while the reporters just sat there like gleeful children waiting for the countdown. Not one mention of the people on board or the situation that’s going on, had no fucking clue anyone was still on board till I saw this post. There has to be some type of protocol that doesn’t let you set off explosives in an inhabited vessel, absolutely no way this was done legally without intervention.

I sat there innocently wondering if the ship would move (since no one would be on a ship they’re setting explosives off on) but figured they had anchored it pretty heavily beforehand and evacuated.

This just sounds like common sense to me. I never understood why government “secure” equipment uses foreign or public systems. I know the cost of such a type of system could be astronomical for a country but it can greatly increase and create competition for tech components. I’m at the point where if you need internet access to function in everyday society then that needs to be provided by the government and a system like the one I described could fill that void and create a lot of jobs.

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve ran into the same problem with construction. I used to enjoy looking up new techniques and materials in a whole range of contractor work, now though it’s all DIY and companies selling unregulated products with no real guarantees. The amount of people who self-post themselves fragrantly breaking the law with illegal systems or dangerous builds not up to any type of standard code is mind blowing. Without fail there’s thousands of upvotes and hundreds of replies thanking the person for the horrible tips. I can’t imagine the number of people who have died because of it, I don’t think there will ever be any type of regulation or support for factual and safe information.
