IBEW seems to have a lot of good folks at least where i am. and i credit a lot to one of my journeymen. He was very much a brother and taught me how to look after myself. One foreman gave him a backhanded compliment one winter morning and when the foreman left he gave me the hand sign to wrap things up. This was at 10am. We left and got 8 hrs because of a bit of disrespect. He also stuck up for me when i started presenting fem at work and another electrician from another shop asked what was with his apprentice.

At least here a lot of those old school guys got run out of the hall so the assholes are far fewer. The only major chud ive run into wasnt even the same classification as me when i was an apprentice so i could talk shit to him all i wanted. I got tired of shouting down his fundie conspiracy shit so i just took lunches in my car at that site. Not even our foreman liked the guy.

Loved Madeline as a kid, that should be easy enough to find in German.

I just wish that the modes of production showed me how much resources per point they put out so i didnt have to do the math.

Before it was released I was looking forward to EU4 but once I got it and saw it was just a real time video board game I never touched it again. I get other paradox games of the same era ran on dice rolls for combat but at least early game eu4 made it too bothersome to get past. CK2 sieges were just a matter of time and cost of soldiers and smaller armies can handily win vs larger ones with the right troop composition. In vic2 at least the soldier quality has a whole economy behind it to make sure the troops are supplied.

I sucked hard at it but civ4 felt good to play with all the civic options. They felt like meaningful options rather than the lite version of tech trees in the other ones.

I’ll edit if I can remember the other one but the best/my favorite one I read is The Exile and The Sorcerer by Jane Fletcher.
