The problem is not that there isnβt solutions, itβs that there is zero political appetite to implement them.
Behold the liberal party base.
Iβll be very surprised if our govt does anything positive when it comes to digital rights. The current shower of arseholes in government supported the previous even bigger shower of arseholes to pass diabolical legislation like data retention and assistance and access bills.
Been using android since the first galaxy. Never have I experienced such a fuck up as when I let my pixel 7 pro update to 14. And this is from someone that used to run random custom stuff going back a few years.
Android 14 caused my phone memory to become corrupt and I had no choice but to factory reset, losing everything not synced. Apparently this was due to running two separate user profiles.
Somehow Google was too busy finding ways to get and sell more of our data and forgot to test if this basic feature fucking works.
Not looking forward to Monday when Iβll have to jump through flaming hoops to set up my work micrishaft authenticator / profile / intune crap again.
Other beef with 14, custom launchers are broken. I have never been able to stand the stock launcher, it is like babies first launcher. No customisation options and the stupid search bar canβt be removed. A few apps I use on a regular basis claim to to not be compatible, even though they ran fine for several days in 14 till the whole thing shit itself.
On the UI front I feel as if everything seems to get more bland each release with less interesting customisation than we had circa android 5.
I noticed one of the recently elected councillors in my area had some concerning points in there BIO about climate change denialism. Checked their social media and itβs filled with people crying about 15 minute cities.
The depth of their ignorance knows no bounds, as we already can be classed as a 15 minute city.
If the govt is going to exert control over βsmartβ TVs, I would rather they ban ads and data collection from TV operating systems / apps that canβt be removed.
"The Greens political party are not interested in solving the problem at allβ¦
Albanese was taking a jab at the Greens for making memes on social media about housing affordability in Australia.
Thatβs some next level projection there. Laborβs policies first and foremost seek to ensure housing continues to rise. They want to give the appearance of doing something to the media, while having no real impact.
I really like this. Iβm sure politicians are at least a decade away from considering it though.
It should not be viable for office workers to drive their V8 turbo diesel ice cap melter in to the CBD each day. Would need a sizeable levee to make an impact to that behaviour.
Thatβs why we call those type of βbike lanesβ a murder strip.
Have them where I live too.

Typical of this Labor govt, this policy is about appearing to do something, than actually doing it effectively.
Why not have levies for all houses sitting vacant, not just foreign owned? Why not make annual fees higher and higher if you own more than say 3 properties? How about fees for land banking in cities ?
Also better make sure that a house used for air BNB 2 weeks a year doesnβt count as being used.
